The 1980’s Marilyn Brooks Clock bag to be exact!

In the past couple of months I have seen 2 girls in Williamsburg with this very bag! The first one was spotted at Artists and Fleas while I was sitting down – I immediately flipped out and grabbed at her (something I normally don’t do considering I am a born and raised New Yorker, and if someone grabbed anywhere in the vicinity of my bag I could give them a high kick to the head) but this was different! Why all the excitement you ask? It was only my FAVORITE PURSE as a little girl!

Here I am at 6 years old with my favorite bag, in my favorite outfit. Acid wash leggings, black loafers, comic strip button down with green stripe military type belt. I recently found pictures at my parents house of my other favorite outfit of the time which still included the shoes, bag, and acid wash leggings (I mean how could it not?) but also included a black t-shirt with an American Flag patterned happy face and a denim jacket. (Hotness) Knowing myself I probably refused to take the leggings off (mom, can you confirm Or DENY this?) – anyway I have posted this photo before but not since the resurgence in popularity of this bag. I suspect my original purse is somewhere in my parents apartment sans clock…but In the mean time I am hunting the internet like a fiend for a new one. I won’t stop until my precious bag is returned to me.
For those of you wanting more of an opportunity to bask in my childhood cuteness not to worry, I have collected some kiddie outfit photos that will be posted here as soon as I figure out the best way to do so. A preview? Think pink striped suit with shoulder pads for 5th birthday party, and high necked prairie dress for 6th birthday party.
Get excited.

Yes, indeed those were some very sturdy leggings and you may have even slept in them a couple of times *smile*. The shell of the clock bag is still around somewhere but I remember removing the clock after both the hands fell off. (It had stopped actually telling time WAY before that.) We tried filling the empty space with other things, but it just wasn’t the same. Before your attachment to this bag you carried around the plush cow bag, which was also VERY stylish!
